Business Mentoring

Developing your competencies and learning new skills is a highly individualized process, but at the same time it does not take place in a vacuum. After all, knowledge is given to us primarily by other people who want to share it with us. The oldest and most effective form of such transfer of knowledge and experience is the master-disciple relationship, or in more modern terminology: mentoring.

What is business mentoring?

Business mentoring is a relationship in which one party takes a role of a guide for the other on the path to development. However, it is still mutual - both the mentor and the student (mentee) have their responsibilities. The role of the mentee is to set a goal that he or she is striving for and actively work to achieve it; and the role of the mentor is to guide this process, inspire and share his or her own experience. In order for a mentor to fulfill their role well, he or she must be an authority in the field they teach. This person has already been to the place the student wants to go to and knows how to get there. The mentee cannot be just a passive recipient of knowledge - they must do the exercises and follow the inspirations given to them by the mentor. In other words: the mentee also brings their resources to the relationship, although their main source in the process is, of course, the mentor.

What does the mentoring process look like?

Business mentoring is based on clearly defined procedures and systematic training of newly acquired skills. During mentoring sessions, the mentee goes through individual stages of the learning process together with the mentor. The first meetings are usually devoted to analyzing the initial situation, determining the areas that need to be changed and the reasons for the change. Then the final goal is set. It is the place that the mentee wants to reach at the end of the entire process. It is important that it is specific and measurable, which is why some criteria are also established to help assess what stage the process is at. Then, the route from point A to point B is planned, i.e. planning activities, exercises and ways to obtain the necessary skills. Since it is never an easy or straight path, intermediate points are also set: partial goals that act as milestones. And finally: after starting learning, we constantly monitor progress and correct the course. Sometimes it will be necessary to change the approach, sometimes to go to a completely new path, and sometimes to devote more time to practicing a skill that will allow the mentee to overcome obstacles to the next milestone.

Who is business mentoring for?

To put it simply: for everyone who wants to grow and knows what they are striving for. Mentoring is the most effective form of knowledge transfer, requiring large resources, but giving the best results in the long run. So if you are interested in this, we offer you a series of one-on-one meetings with a selected mentor via the Zoom platform. Meetings last an hour and you decide how often they take place and how many you need. Meet our mentors and sign up for your first free introductory meeting today.
